What We Know

From our friend Warren Pettit, in the hospital with Will and Angie:

5:50pm PT — A few minutes ago:

I read the following passage to Will and Angie,

You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I looked up at Will and he nodded his head.

Earlier this afternoon:

Angie’s brother and sister (John and Kelli) arrived this afternoon…..bittersweet. Will and Angie have now been in the hospital for five days…. it feels like five months. We’ve been waiting for a variety of tests to tell us what we think we already know, but, nobody has walked through the door to put it all together. Then, the supervising medical oncologist came in and we just stared.

It was the word “non-curative” that I remember. She said, based on averages, that Will has weeks to live, possibly more with a regimen of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. It only took minutes and then she was gone.

We all left the room…..Will and Angie wanted to be alone. Later, we came back in. I offered to read the following passage.

You are my God, and I will praise you; you are my God, and I will exalt you. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I looked up at Will and he nodded his head.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
God bless you William and Angie.

Will, Angie, Family, Friends and Fans,

With each moment that goes by we fall short of not understanding life. Life deals us blows and joys. To understand ones love for what he or she does is far more greater than the one who just gets by. Will’s passion for music was his way of making a chage in the world. With so many people touch as you see the out pour from all, I am privileged to have grown up with you. I thank you for being who you are and what you stood for. Your truly a blessing in all the lives you have touched. I know that without a doubt. As all ways love ya man!

From the words of Charles Swindoll

“To be humble in heart….is to be submissive to the core. It involves being more interested in serving the needs of others than in having one’s own needs met.

Someone who is truly unselfish is generous with his or her time and possessions, energy and money. As that works its way out, it is demonstrated in various ways, such as thoughtfulness and gentleness, an unpretentious spirit, and servant-hearted leadership.”

Will- I do not know you personally, but my nephew is Brian Wimberley and I do know that he prays for you each day and loves you. As a teacher, Mr. Sam Tharpe has been my principal but has moved to another school now. He was a wonderful principal and friend of mine. His wife is a special woman as well. My mom was a wonderful friend of Mrs. Nell, which I believe would have been your great grandmother. My youngest son is in the 4th grade and is friends with I believe your cousin, Mekhi. I was told of this story when Mrs. Barbara sent a letter to my sister, Debi, Brian’s mom. I hate that I haven’t followed and kept up but I have certainly kept you in my prayers. Just reading some of your posts, I know that you are a child of God and that are fully aware of what is going on, and have an absolute wonderful attitude about the whole situation. You are an inspiration to all and we must always remember that MIRACLES HAPPEN…..I am praying as so many others are right this very minute. We all have things in our lives that we don’t understand and sometimes question, but I believe your story has touched me and in so many unspoken words, have helped me more than you could understand. Please stay strong, keep your faith and know just how many are on your side, praying for you and your wife and trusting the Lord.

Will and Angie, praying even now that the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. I have been so blessed and encouraged by your faith. Know that so many are lifting you up.

“I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul, and you have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; you have set my feet in a broad place.” Psalm 31:7-8

Praying hard for a miracle. Josh and I love you both. My heart is breaking for you…I just can’t imagine. But I know that God can heal. I pray that the Holy Spirit floods you…that God is very tangibly near this week.

    Will,

I have spent 10 years in the medical field now and honestly there are no explanations as to why all the good ones get sick. With all of my patients I wish for help and strength for my abilities to help care for them and always keep them safe. I will be sending those same positive thoughts to all of those helping to care for you. As a more spiritual than religious person, my hopes for you and your wife are simple. I hope for the easing of pain, the beauty of rest, the wonderful calming effects of being surrounded by family and friends and lastly, the comfort of knowing that no matter what happens you are okay. Thinking of you and your family and hoping for peace for you all.

    Will and Angie,

May God give you both a supernatural strength as you have been called to walk on this most difficult path. I know God has a plan even though my mind cannot make sense of this. He will not abandon you!! May peace and comfort radiate all around and within you. May God’s angels be holding you each step of the way. I will never stop praying for a miracle or believing that it can happen!!

I am so overwhelmed by this story, I felt compelled to comment. It seems Will and I have numerous friends in common, and are both graduates of Henry County. I am praying as hard as I possibly can for Will, his wife, family, and friends. May God bless you all, and forever keep you wrapped up in his loving arms.

I do not have the privilege of knowing you and just heard about your story today. I went through and read each update. My heart aches for you as I cannot understand the pain that you both are experiencing tonight. I do know this…you both have been a visible demonstration of God’s grace. Your attitude and faithfulness in this has glorified God. I don’t know what tomorrow brings for you, but I am confident of this…God is being glorified through you.
