Three Questions (By Tom Willett)

Dan Beck, Will’s long-time manager, and I just finished spending two days with Will, Angie and their families at the hospital. It was 48 hours of waiting. Waiting for tests and treatments. Waiting for doctors to tell us what was going on. Waiting our turn for a brief visit with Will and Angie at his bedside.

When those of us gathered in the lobby grew tired of small talk, our thoughts drifted to the same three questions:

Was our time best spent preparing for what appeared to be the medically inevitable, or praying for the miraculously possible? The answer was faith.

Would a new traditional or alternative treatment present itself just in the nick of time and reverse the relentless spread of the cancer? The answer was hope.

What could any of us, with all of our affection, admiration and agony for Will simply laying inert, impotent, in our laps, do? The answer was love.

Those three things remain: faith, hope and love.
