The Ups and Downs (Update from Angie)

As this entire journey has been over the last 10 months, this last week was filled with highs and lows, ups and downs. Below is the most recent update from Angie, including two pictures from Will’s birthday weekend celebration.

This past week was full of celebration. Years of work coming together in the release of Broke* and Will celebrating 33 years! It was an amazing weekend with some dear friends and family flying in to surprise Will. All weekend Will was receiving cards, balloons, flowers, gifts, calls, texts. It was a perfect celebration of his beautiful life.

We’re both very thankful for those moments that we were able to share together and with friends because before we knew it the celebration was over and the fear of the unknown was back.

Yesterday morning, Will woke up and his legs were much weaker than they had been. He was really starting to gain strength and was able to use a walker part of the time he was up. He had just finished his lymphatic massage and got up to transfer to the wheelchair. As he was turning, his legs gave out and he collapsed to the floor. It took three of us to get him up and back into the wheelchair.

As the day went on Will was doing better, hanging out with a couple of friends that were still here and then playing scrabble with my brother and me.

Today, we woke up and I asked him how his legs felt, if any strength had returned. He said they felt about the same.

I was helping him get dressed and all of a sudden his legs gave out and he collapsed to the floor again, hitting much harder this time. Thankfully, my brother is still here and with his help and a hotel worker we were able to get him into the wheelchair.

Miraculously, Will only felt a little pain in his hip that went away quickly.

They have scheduled an MRI for today (Tuesday) at 11am of his thoracic area. They believe this weakness is spinal cord related and the tumor that was in the thoracic area.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers and thoughts. Will is without a doubt better than when we arrived and in many ways I haven’t seen him this strong, alert, and himself since before chemo and radiation. But with as much improvement as he has made, he is still fighting for his life and we continue to be faced with obstacles that we have no idea how to face.

We don’t have the strength to do this or the courage but we are looking to our God who is the only one who can release us from this snare. We are most definitely in a snare. Oh Lord, will you be merciful? Will you deliver us from our trouble?

As always, #GoTeamGray is rallying behind you both, Will and Angie. We are continually inspired and moved by your strength. Thank you for being, well, you.
